Over the past six months, the Empowering Tech Group has accelerated its mission to foster learner independence, reduce decoding fatigue, and bridge accessibility barriers across global classrooms.
Through strategic initiatives and product innovations across its core brands, including Scanning Pens, C-Pen, Succeed with Dyslexia, e-pens, Squid., Wizcom Tech, and Empowering Tech, we have significantly broadened our impact.
Below we look at what’s been going on in a very busy first half of 2026…
Succeed with Dyslexia
Succeed with Dyslexia has been given a fresh new look and launched a brand-new website, all to show just how much we’re growing as a global movement for dyslexia awareness, advocacy, and empowerment.
This rebrand gives a clearer, bolder identity, so we can share the mission more easily across everything we do—whether that’s campaigns, resources, or connecting with our amazing community.
The new website is all about making things easier and more welcoming for everyone, whether you have dyslexia, are an educator, a family member, an employer, or merely someone who cares.
The rebrand and launch of the website have made it simpler to find what you need, made our resources clearer, and put the spotlight on celebrating dyslexic thinking while pushing back against old, outdated ideas.
Most importantly, our community now has an even better place to share stories, find support, and celebrate everything that makes dyslexic thinkers so powerful.
Empowering Tech
At Empowering Tech, we are proud to champion Literacy Junction as part of our ongoing commitment to making reading accessible for everyone.
This platform brings together practical resources, guidance, and support in one easy-to-access place, helping educators, families, and learners discover tools that build reading confidence and independence.
For those with dyslexia or other reading difficulties, Literacy Junction offers accessible support focused on understanding, confidence, and progress.
Removing barriers encourages a more inclusive approach to literacy, allowing every learner to engage with content at their own pace and reach their full potential.
The platform acts as a bridge between awareness and action, helping schools, organisations, and individuals understand literacy challenges and discover practical ways to foster independence and self-belief.
C-Pen
When it comes to assistive technology development, we’re leading the way, which is why we’re excited to share that Exam Reader 2 now supports the Welsh language, making exams even more accessible for everyone.
If you read and study in Welsh, you can now enjoy the same independent reading support as your peers, helping you feel included and confident every step of the way.
With Welsh language support, Exam Reader 2 is now an even better fit for schools and learners across Wales, especially if you have dyslexia, reading difficulties, or face other literacy challenges.
Now, you can listen to Welsh text read aloud during exams, making it easier to understand what’s on the page and boosting your confidence, all without needing help from an adult reader.
This update means even more learners can access written content independently and demonstrate what they know, regardless of the language they use in school. Exam Reader 2 is here to help everyone learn and succeed, making classrooms fairer and more inclusive for all.
Scanning Pens
Scanning Pens has been busy right across the globe, from the UK to Down Under in Australia; the business has provided impactful solutions and support to its family of neurodiverse followers.
UK
- Inclusive Mainstream Fund (IMF) alignment: Directly supporting English mainstream schools utilising the Department for Education’s £400 million IMF (2026–27) to build universally accessible learning environments.
- Targeted learner support: Assisting pupils with dyslexia, literacy barriers, and English as an Additional Language (EAL) to access grade-level curriculum without lowering academic standards.
- SEND independence: Reframing Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) success around pupil autonomy and self-advocacy rather than continuous adult reader reliance.
US
- Science of Reading & structured literacy: Working closely with educators to demonstrate how text-to-speech pens complement evidence-based reading instruction and inclusive classroom practices.
- CAST & UDL collaboration: Deepening organisational ties with CAST and the broader Universal Design for Learning community through nationwide conferences, webinars, and joint initiatives.
- Internal accessibility enhancements: Translating ongoing conversations around learner variability into direct accessibility improvements across digital platforms and web resources.
Australia
- Healthcare strategy & webinar outreach: We know many in the Australian health sector are concerned about rising literacy challenges. In fact, almost half prefer learning through webinars. That’s why we’re launching a special webinar series with Julia Clouta and Madeline Jones. Join us to discover how Scanning Pens can make a real difference for your clients and get useful tips you can use right away.
- Mainstream education & state policy alignment: Australian schools are making assistive technology part of everyday learning for all students, not just specialists. Queensland’s 2026 Reading Commitment is bringing reading tools into every classroom. Peter Le Grange has been reaching out across Queensland, visiting schools, attending conferences, and connecting with educators in person and online.
- Cross-sector speech pathology integration: With more speech pathologists and support services in schools across Queensland, Victoria, and South Australia, we’re bringing healthcare and education together. Scanning Pens Australia is creating resources that work for both clinics and classrooms, so every student can get the support they need, wherever they are.
Canada
How reading pens are changing classrooms:
- Empowering independent readers at Tsuut’ina: Reading pens are boosting student confidence and independence across our partner schools. During a recent pilot with the Tsuut’ina Education Department, Inclusive Education Lead Meghan Townsend saw students tackle grade-level texts at their own pace, deepen comprehension, and actively choose to read independently in resource rooms.
- Taking charge at Lakeland Catholic: Thanks to the support of the parent fundraising group, Lakeland Catholic School has brought in C-Pens to help students take charge of their reading experience. Principal Elaine Ernst has already seen the difference, especially for junior and senior high students who are now reading on their own and don’t need as much one-on-one help. With staff able to focus their time where it matters most, the school is eager to expand the program even further next year.

e-pens
It’s been a busy year for e-pens as they continue their mission to transform home learning globally by making assistive reading technology intuitive, portable, and genuinely affordable.
By simply gliding the device over printed text within books and worksheets, learners hear words read aloud in real time.
This instant text-to-speech support breaks down barriers to reading, empowering students to build comprehension, improve pronunciation, and study independently with confidence.
Beyond boosting individual literacy, e-pens provides a practical, cost-effective solution for parents and caregivers. With multi-language support and clear audio feedback, it eliminates the need for expensive tutoring or bulky hardware.
Ultimately, e-pens turns any home study space into an accessible, self-paced learning environment for families worldwide.
Looking Ahead
Over the past six months, we have empowered global communities with the fresh new look of Succeed with Dyslexia and brought learners and educators together through Literacy Junction.
Not only that, but we have helped break down language barriers in exams with C-Pen, and so much more! Each of these achievements reflects our ongoing commitment to making learning accessible for everyone.
Looking ahead, we remain dedicated to championing neurodiversity, driving innovation in assistive technology, and making sure every learner has the tools, confidence, and independence they need to succeed.
Together, we will continue to create opportunities for growth and positive change. We can’t wait to share with you what the rest of the year brings, as we head into 2027!
